“From botanical literature to the reality of gardens”
For the very first time in their history, the Heritage Libraries of Ajaccio and Bastia are coming together for an exhibition around heritage works relating to plant science. These collections were bequeathed to Corsica by Tommaso Prelà, Lucien Bonaparte, Cardinal Fesch and Louis Campi, with an ambition of excellence for the island population, who can then benefit from this scientific windfall, coming from the greatest convents or libraries of their time.
This exhibition aims to be partly a legacy of this ambition, by promoting these collections to the greatest number, while following the construction of scientific thought around plants and botany since the 16th century. In fact, the two Libraries have very old works on the art of plants, botany and gardens.

The Bonapartes and Antiquity,
an imperial language

Co-production of the National Museum of the Bonaparte House and the Municipal Library of Ajaccio. Throughout the exhibition, the public will discover ancient culture through the eyes of Napoleon. The reference to Antiquity is permanent among the Bonapartes and appears in very diverse forms (Fine Arts - architecture, painting, sculpture and decorative arts, literary references and political speeches). This exhibition designed from the collections of the Fesch Heritage Library, which testifies to the passion of cultivated Europeans for Greek and Roman Antiquity, is divided into three sequences: I - The discovery of Antiquity: excavations, analysis of ruins and study of texts, II - The promotion of Antiquity: Museums, collections and publications, III - Before the Empire and Neoclassicism: Renaissance theorists and interpretations of the Baroque
