« Pascal Paoli as Dorothy Carrington looks on »

On the occasion of the commemoration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Pascal Paoli, the exhibition will address this great historical figure through the watchful eye of Dorothy Carrington, writer and donor of the Fesch Library. The public will be able to discover a selection of Lady Rose's personal archives, supplemented by unpublished documents from the Corsican collections of the 18th and 19th centuries of the heritage library.

The Library unveils Lady Rose's intellectual heritage in archeology, ethnology, history, myth and literature. The exhibition is divided into three main parts:
1: In the first 6 showcases: we discover Dorothy's intimate life, his early writing and his method of investigation for the writing of books and articles on Corsica and its traditions.
2: In the 4 showcases on the table: we can see a fundamental moment in Dorothy's relationship with Corsica: his passion for the site of Filitosa and a renewed curiosity for archeology. The first two showcases present the site of Filitosa, the third the site of Aleria and the last testifies to his tireless curiosity for all the archeological remains that relate to the island's history.
3: In the last 4 showcases: we present the collections dedicated to the history of Corsica and the paolist epic, in connection with Dorothy's gift. The second showcase is devoted to Dorothy's study of the Constitution of Corsica. The third testifies to Dorothy's interest in the fig of James Boswell.
Dorothy's work on Napoleon Bonaparte's parents is revealed in the last window.
In addition, the drawer window displays Dorothy's typewriter, teapot, and Knight of Arts and Letters medal.
